I had the rather extraordinary pleasure of spending most of 2014 in France. It was a delight to experience the change of seasons and watch as the colours morphed from the vivid blues and brights of Summer to the crunchy gold tones of Autumn. The climate in my home town of Newcastle is temperate so we don't experience the full beauty and drama of each season as it transitions like they do in other parts of the world. As Autumn has now arrived in Newcastle I thought I would take the opportunity to celebrate the colour and mood of this beautiful season as it is in Paris.
In Paris, the morning is still and silent, this is rare. The usual white blanket of fog has excused itself today and in its place a clear, pale blue sky painted with layers of violet clouds. I feel like I want to dive into the morning, absorb it into my skin. The light is so pretty I can hardly bear it. I watch from my window as grey clouds move swiftly across the sky, blown by the chilly late Autumn breeze. Naked branches desperately hold on to what is left of golden leaves but they rustle and fall, floating into the cold, settling on the concrete path like crunchy confetti - Excerpt from my travel diary 2014
